Despite the coldest of cold fronts over us, and the wind blowing hard off the ocean, R & M’s wedding at the Wyndham Resort & Casino in Nassau flowed without a hitch from start to finish.

While not the weather you expect for your destination wedding in the Bahamas, the cold didn’t stop R & M from enjoying every moment of their day, from getting ready, to their first kiss, to the last dance at their very lively reception! And they weren’t the only ones who enjoyed it – the guests danced up a storm, and even the wedding photographer had a blast!

I had the pleasure of photographing Stacey and Tim’s wedding at Atlantis recently. Desipite some slightly wet weather, the day was beautiful, and as always, I met some great people, and, I hope, made some great images!

My first shoot of the new year was also pretty new – Baby A, at only 4 weeks old.

A departure from my primary business of weddings, the shoot was still great fun, although not without its own quirks and difficulties. With my own daughter now 7 years old, I’d forgotten that babies, especially at a month old, are not particularly good at following instructions, or doing what you want them to do. Baby A was no exception, and decided he wanted to spend an hour or so clinging to his mummy, and being somewhat grumpy if moved from her arms!

Eventually, with a full tummy and some coaxing, he allowed us to lay him down and make a few photos before giving up the fight and falling to sleep!

My last wedding of 2011 was with Angie and Apollo. And it involved a whole heap of fun!

The event was located at the RIU Palace, which sits on the famous Cabbage Beach on Paradise Island, and involved a lot of dancing, drinking and goofing off (though not for me, of course!)

Anyway, on with the images!

Brittney & Dale’s day to remember was also a date to remember – 11-11-11 – and I had the honour of making those memories last!

The wedding, held at the Cove at Atlantis, was a small, intimate and truly romantic affair with a backdrop of blue skies and bluer waters.

The day after, we picked up the pace and headed out for a trash the dress shoot, traveling the length of New Providence to create some truly stunning images.

So, again I find myself way way behind in updating my blog, so I’m going to do a quick roundup of recent weddings I’ve had the privilege to photograph recently.

These were shot at the amazing One&Only Ocean Club and the beautiful Compass Point resort – I won’t go into details, I’ll just get straight on with the photos!

This weekend took me again to Paradise Island as photographer for Jessica and Michael’s wedding. The original plan was for the wedding and reception to be at The Cove, but sadly the unpredictable September Bahamas weather decided to change those plans and force everything indoors.


Not to be stopped, the awesome wedding team at Atlantis, along with the equally awesome team at Wildflowers, managed to move both the ceremony decor, and the entire reception, to an indoor location within the Atlantis resort.

While still a fantastic day out, one thing was missing – beautiful bridal images! To me, they are one of the most important sets of images of the day, so I offered to come back to the Cove later in the week, once the weather had cleared, to make sure Jess and Michael had some images that would let them remember the real beauty of the Bahamas and their wedding.

Michael, camera shy at best, was hesitant, but came round to the idea, and we spent a relaxed couple of hours later in the week, without the pressure of wedding day timelines, to make some stunning images they have since told me they absolutely love.

I guess it’s true that every cloud does have a silver lining – even if those clouds appear on your wedding day.

My first wedding shoot of September was one to remember. Amy and Jon celebrated their day with around one hundred family and friends, gathered at the Atlantis resort, a place Amy had been visiting since her childhood.

After a beautiful ceremony on the beach under blue skies, the group partied until the early hours of the morning in the grounds of Atlantis, with even Amy’s 90-somthing year old grandma dancing the night away under the stars.

But it didn’t end there, as I picked up Amy and Jon the following afternoon for a slightly slower, but just as much fun, trash the dress shoot around the island of New Providence. After taking a tour of the island, stopping along the way to make some great images, we ended the shoot at sunset on Orange Hill beach. While the clouds that rolled in throughout the afternoon meant the sunset was less than spectacular, the images we made, I hope, were!

I started September with a departure from my normal wedding photography, this time being asked to shoot a high end real estate development in the Eastern area of New Providence.

The shoot was to convey a sense of the not-yet-finished development, and the images to be used in their showcase brochures and media pieces, so I focused on images that would convert a sense of the place, without showing the ongoing construction.

My other challenge was the weather, with threatening clouds looming not far enough away, I knew we were headed for a rainstorm, but had no idea how long we had before it arrived. What made it worse was that we had a boat booked to head offshore and get take some unique shots from the ocean – sadly, this part of the job was a write off, as the storm hit as soon as we were 20 feet off shore.

Back on shore, I wanted to get some interior shots, so I staged a table with some flowers one of the staff rustled up from around the property. Just as I was about to shoot the scene, an unexpected visitor popped out of the largest of the flowers, slowly climbed to the top and decided to pose for a couple of frames, before climbing down and heading off! A nice addition to the day’s shoot!

My Last wedding of the summer took me again tot he stunning One&Only Ocean Club on Paradise Island, this time for the Russian wedding of Sabina & Sergey.

Just moments after the ceremony, the heavens opened and the rain came down for the next 2 hours, , making my job a little harder than usual, as everyone huddled in the Club’s lounge while the reception site was moved form the beautiful Versailles Gardens, to a covered patio by the pool.

A break in the weather gave us time to capture some more images before the reception started and the rain set in again for the night.

Not the ideal conditions for a photographer, but it didn’t stop Sergey & Sabina from having the day of their lives!
